The Summer Blockade is the term applied to the period of diplomatic isolation, political pressure and coalition containment directed at █████ (The Mastermind) between the June 24 Crisis and the end of August 2026. It was a non-kinetic phase of the Mulock War and is the core of what is called the Newmarket Cold War.[1]
The motives of those involved are disputed and are not presented as established fact.
Diplomatic isolation
After the collapse of the treaty, █████'s access to former diplomatic networks narrowed. Within the simulation this is described as embargo and coalition containment: standing channels fell silent and the coalition's collective position hardened.
Realignment of former allies
Several former allies reoriented toward the opposing coalition. █████ aligned temporarily with it, and █████ distanced himself from █████. █████ continued to support █████ throughout.
Competing narratives
Reports of social pressure and of competing accounts of the June events circulated during July and August.
Strengthening of independent identity
Paradoxically the isolation consolidated the independent group around █████. By late August the name Behind The Masks was in use and Northern Command Headquarters had been established.
End of the blockade
The blockade dissolved in practice during September 2026, when █████ reconsidered his alignment and reopened communications with █████. See Intelligence Crisis of October 2026.
